DAY 6:
PAELLA! One of my all time favorite dishes to make and eat is paella. Our family makes it with chicken, chorizo, sea bass, squid, sea scallops, shrimp, mussels, clams, and the famous bomba rice that makes the whole dish work perfectly. I was a good sunday to make paella because it was about 45 degrees outside, and although that is a little nippy, it is perfect when making the paella out on the grill. But before I can get to paella, the rest of the day happened before I even started prepping for dinner.
It was the first sunday of the New Year, which means epiphany Sunday, and that means church. It was a good church lesson, with singing and readings about the magi (three kings). it felt good to get back to church, especially since this was one of the few Christmases that I have not attended Christmas Eve service.
I met my friends for lunch/brunch after at a place called Versailles. It was great to catch up with my friends, but I thought the lunch/brunch was not worth the overpriced food. (Below is an awkward candid shot taken while Sarah and my attentions were diverted)
Not my finest moment.
After some serious shopping at Whole Foods and our local fish market, it was time to give my puppy some love.
Lets just say, he had some fun in what little snow was left.
Paul Newman also has a little bit of McSteamy going on from Grey's Anatomy. Just sayin.

LEO'S CORNER
I got home from my errands, and the dog had turned into a complete psycho. This happens occasionally when he hasn't been walked or played with. So after our christmas tree was skillfully disposed of, it was time to take this devil dog for a walk.
He really enjoyed stopping at the bridge to check out all of cars rushing by on the Merritt Parkway.
He also really enjoyed stopping to look at his girlfriends, the horses down at the barn. I dont know how he saw them though because he is as blind as a bat. I guess it was the smell that made him perk up.
Apparently after a mile walk that wasn't enough attention. So we also played in the backyard until he was all tired out.
Lets just say, he had some fun in what little snow was left.
Every time I look at Leo with that twig in his mouth, it reminds me of Pongo in 101 Dalmatians when he wipes away the paw prints of the puppies.
Gotta love Pongo. That is one great dog, and one great dog name.

So back to my fantastic paella, let me just say that it is one work of love. I hope that my ability to cook this amazing dish comes in handy down the road, maybe when cooking for someone will be a stepping stone in a relationship. ;-) I hope that someday though I will make this dish and actually enjoy the whole process, as opposed to constantly being pressured to finish and produce the dish. I can sometimes be controlling when making this dish, but that is just because I want it to come out perfectly.
Well this is the picture of my final project.
It is hard to see the rice and green beans underneath the surface of the meat and fish, but it is there and trust me, it tasted as good as it looks.
We also watched "The Sting" tonight. It stared Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Oh My God, I could swim in Paul Newman's eyes they are so blue. I do not normally like mustaches but that was one good looking man. What I wouldn't give to be lost in Hollywood during the 70s, so many good looking men. Let me just say that this movie was much better that the previous nights, and I finally understand where the score comes from that is often used in pop culture today.

SIDE BAR---
Was on the avenue today, and was surprised to see the new Hermes store going in where Best & Co. used to be. Apparently there are a lot of changes going on on the avenue lately, with the addition of Hermes and Restoration Hardware being moved into the Old Post Office building. It will be interesting to see what goes into the the old Restoration Hardware building because it is a great location. I still haven't been to the new Chipotle, but that is what eat at school is for.
